Using The Video Game Console Efficiently

According to a report the Natural Resources Defense Council, video game consoles consume a high amount of electricity and emit a lot of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The study has revealed that about 50% of the people using video game consoles forget to turn off the console when they turn off their televisions. Many leave the games on that they can't save so that they can start up from where they left.

But, using the video game console efficiently can help us conserve our energy and reduce our electricity bill by following some simple steps. There's a lot of room for improvement.

Most systems consume nearly the same amount of power when they are turned on and or are idle. Sony Playstation 3 is the most power-hungry model with Microsoft Xbox 360 ranking a close second. Nintendo Wii consumes significantly less energy than the others.

Developing good habits for efficient use of the video game console will go a long way to make a difference.

a) Don’t forget to turn the system off when you have finished playing a game. Remember, your console doesn't shut down simply because you turned off the TV.

b) Always enable the automatic power down feature, for it will shut down your device automatically, in case you forget to shut it down.

c) Its better to limit movie watching on gaming devices as they consume a far more energy than a stand-alone unit.

Efficient use of the video game console can definitely be inculcated by developing the right habits.
